Terms of Use

Last updated: October 2, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of SageFin — the website at sagefin.app, the product app, and the SageFin mobile app. By creating an account or using SageFin, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use SageFin.

SageFin ("SageFin," "we," "us") provides personal finance tools. How we collect, use and share your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

1. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use SageFin. SageFin is currently offered as a private, invite-only beta, and we may decide who is invited.

You are responsible for the email address and sign-in methods on your account and for what happens under it. Keep them secure, and tell us at [email protected] if you believe someone else has used your account. An account is for one person; to share with someone, invite them to your household rather than sharing a sign-in.

A household's members can see its shared accounts, balances, transactions, budgets and settings. Only invite people you are comfortable showing that information to. Household owners can remove members, and any member other than the owner can leave at any time.

2. What SageFin is — and is not

SageFin helps you see and organize your own finances: it gathers balances and transactions, categorizes spending, tracks budgets and goals, and answers questions about your data. It is an information tool.

SageFin is not a bank, broker, investment adviser, tax preparer or lender, and nothing in it is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. SageFin does not hold your money and cannot move it, make payments or place trades. Decisions you make using SageFin are yours; consider speaking to a qualified professional before making significant financial decisions.

Some features use artificial intelligence — categorizing transactions, splitting retail orders into lines, and answering chat questions. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, even when it sounds confident. Check anything that matters against your institution's own records.

3. Connected accounts and third-party services

When you connect a bank, card, brokerage, Apple Wallet or retail account, you authorize SageFin, and the provider that makes the connection, to retrieve information from that account on your behalf. Only connect accounts you are entitled to access.

Connections are made through third parties — for example Plaid for banks, Apple's FinanceKit for Apple Card and Wallet, and, for retail order history, the retailer's own website, read by SageFin Desktop on your computer — and their own terms apply to your use of them. We do not control those services. Data they supply can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and a connection can stop working when an institution changes something on its side. Your institution's records, not SageFin's, are the authoritative record of your accounts.

Retail orders reach SageFin from SageFin Desktop, which runs on your own computer. You sign in to the retailer there yourself; the app reads your orders pages, on a schedule once you start a sync, and sends them to SageFin. SageFin does not receive your retailer sign-in. A retailer's own terms may limit or prohibit software reading your account this way, and you choose whether to use it. Our retail orders help page explains what each retailer's terms say. If you connected a retailer before October 2026 by giving SageFin a sign-in, disconnecting deletes our copy of it but does not sign you out at the retailer.

4. Your data

Your financial data, and the notes, rules, budgets and other content you add, remain yours. You give us permission to store, process and display it, and to send it to the service providers named in the Privacy Policy, only as needed to provide and improve SageFin for you. We do not sell it.

You can export your transactions and delete your account at any time; section 8 describes how.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use SageFin for anyone else's accounts without their permission, or for any unlawful purpose
  • attempt to access another person's or household's data, or to get around the limits on your own access
  • probe, scan or test the security of SageFin, or interfere with or overload the service, except as part of a responsible disclosure to [email protected]
  • scrape, copy, resell or build a competing product from SageFin, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows
  • use API tokens or the SageFin MCP server to access anything other than your own household's data

6. Fees

SageFin is free to use during the private beta. If we introduce paid plans, we will show the price and billing terms before you are charged, and nothing will be charged without your agreement. Purchases made through Apple's App Store are billed by Apple under its own terms, and are managed and canceled in your Apple account settings.

7. The beta, and changes to SageFin

SageFin is under active development. Features may change, be added or be removed, and the service may be unavailable at times, including for maintenance. We work to keep your data safe and the service running, but during the beta we do not promise any particular level of availability.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using SageFin at any time. You can delete your account yourself in Settings → Security → Delete account; the Privacy Policy sets out what that deletes and the little that briefly outlives it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other people or the service at risk, or is required to be closed by law. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data. We may also end the beta or the service; if we do, we will give you notice and time to export.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, SageFin is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that SageFin will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that data from connected institutions or AI features will be accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, SageFin will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or financial losses resulting from decisions made using SageFin. Our total liability for any claim relating to SageFin is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for SageFin in the twelve months before the claim and US$50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these exclusions or limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. The iOS app

If you use SageFin on an Apple device, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and SageFin, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for SageFin or its content, maintenance or support.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of the place you live gives you protections that cannot be waived.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as SageFin changes. We will post the updated terms here and revise the "Last updated" date, and we will tell you in the product or by email before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use SageFin after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
